I live in the chicagoland area. I saw an ad for an O/O to work out of Plano, Il for the Menards DC. I am wondering if it is worth looking into or not. Does anyone have any experiance with them. They say at min I would need a single screw power unit. and will do about 2350 a week in miles. I need to go in to find out more details on the pay structure. Help advise if this may be worh it as far as income and aggrivation.

It pays .97m and the FSC is currently .34 it is paid pc miler zip to zip. you provide truck, ins., authority. You do sign a contract but you can get out of it with a 60 day notice. I cant remember but they omly run you about a 100 mile or so radius at most. I know road trucks avg about 6m to a gallon. What would a tandum day cab average? the only other cost is they charge under $30 A month for a GPS tracking unit to keep track of the freight. You can park your truck at the DC. I think you might be able to do 2-4 loads a day on average depending on distance and the length of day you want to work. Aside from one time costs from starting a trucking company it seems like your monthly costs would not leave you a whole lot if you do not own the truck already. Adding a truck payment seems like would put you in the RED. IF i do not have a MC # DOT # A truck or anything else it looks to me I may not put a paycheck in the bank that equalls what i make as a company OTR driver. I have read a lot of the O/O posts here and am not sure. Opinons comments please.

Sound like a very good way to lose everything really fast if you ask me....The good part of that is that you won't waste much time working for nothing...

if all you are doing is drop n hook and get the pay to and from you are looking much better.
i used to do a similar gig for USF years ago and did pretty good. -
The trailers are preloaded and you get priority at the store for a live unload. Stores in Chicagoland pay a flat rate so you do not lose with traffic and all. They say you can average 2000-3000 miles a week. So from what I see from some replys this is probably not a good endeavor to pursue correct.
