Well I have done it......I BOUGHT A TRUCK! I am leasing onto a great company , good compensation rate with regular steady miles and excellent reputation. I have given my notice at my current job and will be on the road in my own truck within the next two weeks. I got the truck at a very reasonable price and have a healthy cash on hand start-up/ maintenance fund. Truck is 2005 KW w900 ,600,000 miles, near new tires and brakes, well maintained with full service history records. YEEEHAAAA LETS GO TRUCKIN!!!!
O/O .....Here I go!

Thank you. I will be sure to keep updates going when I can. I am canadian and wont have internet when I am in the usa so I will be making some TTR progress reports every two weeks or so when I am at home. Once again thanks for the well wishes.

Thanks . Its going to be a lot of hard work and alot of fast learning but I figured I would just jump right in. Dont get me wrong, I did my fair share of research and homework. In the end it really does just take a leap of faith and the confidence to back up the decision with hard work and open eyes ,ears and mind! Like anyone becoming O/O I have every chance of making it or failing. I think my chances are well above average to make it. I wouldnt have gone all in if i didnt think that. I realise and understand that its entirely up to me now and that I am the master of my own fate. Having said that I didnt get myself into the position of having the cash saved to start this by sitting on my butt not working. I set myself a goal 12 months ago to save to buy my own truck and I have achieved that. My new goal is to be still operating my truck succesfully in 12 months from now. If i can achieve that then I will be able to keep on being successfull. If I fail then at least I will have failed knowing I gave it all I had and tried my hardest. I have a business plan and if I stick to it then I will have no reason not to succeed.Logan76 Thanks this.

You're already several steps ahead of most owners. And there you go again with an attainable goal, 12 months behind you as an o/o. You've set it up to where you should make that happen.. Good job and good luck.. My first year was the most difficult but I'm still here two and half years later..
kw9's rock and Logan76 Thank this. -
Good luck! Remember, common sense goes a long ways (although my father will still tell me I don't have any, lol). Got any pictures of the new rig?

Good luck!
I should be getting on the road a week or two behind you. I'm going independent in the states. My authority should be sitting in my P.O. box, and I only have the SOS, IRS, IRP, and IFTA hoops left to jump through.
Feels a bit odd being this close to being in your own truck, doesn't it?kw9's rock Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the well wishes guys! JDP I will try to get some pics up soon as i can. Barroll it sure does feel a bit odd, a bit like "is this really happening" kinda feeling....but in a really good way! Rollin Coal, thanks for the words of encouragement. I gotta say one of the best feelings was being able to post it on here. I have put a few posts up over the last 6 months about going O/O and its good to be able to say I got there !
barroll Thanks this.
