He does not have his CDL yet. So take that into consideration before scolding him on where and how rates are. Thats kind of a moot point at this stage. He will figure it out or go broke trying. Hurst
I will learn for sure thats why im asking before i attempt to do anything. This is just a dream for me. Ive wanted to own my own truck since i was 15.
Yall have me thinking, what type trailer would pay an o/ob more? Flatbed, tanker? Can i be leased to another company and still hire a driver and make profit with 2-3 trucks?
Better off to be blunt about it before he goes that route. Nothing wrong with stating facts. He should focus on getting a CDL without cutting any corners and not even think about getting his authority yet or probably his own truck.
One of my O/O friend factors @ 1.5%....He's a single truck O/O He makes the factoring company match his broker rates (CHR)...and still have zero drama. He also uses the factoring company as a "quasi-credit check" on his non-CHR loads. If they wont factor it, he wont take the load.
I bet part of that deal is he must factor 100% of his business and also they can claw back if someone doesn't pay ... In the end it's still further ahead to borrow off a line of credit if needed..
I have a couple I do quick pay with. Most I do not. Yeah money can get tight. I don't care to have my money go thru anyone, so I won't factor. I'm an independent and I get loves and J calling me to set up a fuel card, so yes anyone can do this. I do have good credit, which helps.
