Did you have the formula 903, which turned 2400? The original 903s had a governed speed of 2800, and usually were geared 4.63 or thereabouts. Mine was geared 4.44, but would turn 3300. Yours sounds like Wiley Sanders truck.

"On the road to success with Midwestern express".... more like the road to distress....

BTW.... I believe the MWE guys restarted as Prime... correct me if I'm wrong.

I have heard that before....The first time I heard it was back when Prime first showed up on the road.
I don't know if it's true but from what I've seen, Prime is just as crooked as Midwestern Distribution ever was!

    So maybe it is true.

My first big truck which I still drive is a 1984 Pete 359. Had less then 30k on inframe overhaul and new seats and many other things such as tires. Maybe payed to much for it but is cost me 10k. Found a 63" flat top of the same truck for $150 bucks. Quick paint job and mounted the sleeper and love it ever since. Got a cummins 400 big cam and I haul light LTL freight so I removed a axle. Gets 9mpg if I drive at 60mph. Love the pete and has been my dream to have a 359 and it came true. Havent had a single major issue. Couple small issues like all the bolts on the end of the tranny backed out luckily saw it when I stoped for a soda quick fix. Clutch return spring broke on a 6% down grade one of those with 20mph hair pin curves. Learned how to shift without a clutch real quick. WOuldnt of done anything different though.

I was 23 and bought a 1982 Freightliner Cabover, 400 Cummins, 13spd, for $12,500 and that was in 1993 and financed it at the local bank w/$2,500 down and my payments were around $370 a month but I had to overhaul it about three months down the road at a cost of $4,500. I ran this truck for another year and a half and it nickeled and dimmed me to death so I sold it to a farmer for $7,000 and bought a 89' T600 (ex-CFI) and it was the best truck I ever owned.
