That is a question that will vary because like any business net income is all about controlling expenses so this will be based on the individual. Take for instance, your friend has a $600 weekly truck payment whereas I have what equates to a $306 weekly truck payment, and another person may have a zero truck payment. If you are planning on getting your own truck then work the numbers on what you can afford to live with.
Redman30 Thanks this. -
i would like to know the miles on that 170,000.
i did about 180k gross on 89,782 actual speedometer miles. truck payment was 12,600( but made the last payment april 15,2014)
50,000 fuel, 6500 trl payment, paid for in dec,2013, apu payment 5,040 paid for as of feb, 2014. and some tags and permits.
and some truck washes, oil changes, 2 new steer tires bridgestone r280 at 405 a piece,
i cleared enough to keep the lights on at the house, milskired Thanks this. -
You mean how much I send home or how much I report on my 1040? 2 very different numbers.

36 k ? that must be taxed at a higher bracket..that is a horrible income, probably drove 120k to 130k miles to get it..

Yes that's a pathetic return on all the hours spent and on that revenue. But I'm afraid that's what you get when you work for one of the big boys, many times. That truck payment is a bit steep too. You should be taking home a lot more than that on $170K gross rev.
Might as well go back to being a co driver. -
A friend let me look at his earnings and spending he grossed with Swift: $170,000 for the year= Big time low revenue should be closer to $20k higher!
$31,200 truck payment= Typical Lease Payment
$80,000 fuel= Source of the Problem, he needs to stop idling, and possibly slow down a bit.
$22,800 for?= Insurance and all of the Misc. fees
and he got $36,000 take home.= What happens when you are a truck driver and not a business owner.
