O/O with crete carrier, good or bad?

I've been with them going on 12 years as a company driver & just bought a truck from them in May. Took a long time for me to get up the nerve to do it as I was doing very well as a company driver. I had many conversations with the O/O division and O/Os' before pulling the trigger. I came into it with the mindset that...if my only choice were to always keep the truck here, then I wouldn't be doing this. I had every intention of taking the truck elsewhere once I get it paid for, which will be within a few months. But now, 3 months into it, I can honestly say that if my only choice were to always keep the truck here, I still would do it. I'm keeping close track of everything on spread sheets & am better off financially than I was at .57 per mile as a company driver. I'm not saying you'll get rich doing it but the money is better. My average gross is $1.41 per mile at roughly 2,800 average per week. I know that's not much compared to what you see in some of the posts now while rates are high but I've seen times when O/Os' struggle to get a dollar. I have always seen trucks here that were not bought here, but O/Os' who brought their trucks here, they're not doing it for better rates obviously but stability. I've asked several of them why they didn't take their trucks to Landstar or somewhere with percentage pay & the answer is almost always the same.... those places sound great right now but wait until rates go down. At least here you know what you'll get and you know it'll be there. I had problems with the truck right out of the gate & they stuck by me every step of the way, the folks in the O/O division are straight shooters, they won't butter things up. I am very happy with my decision to do this, no regrets.

I did end up switching over to Landstar, which was my original plan. Crete was always good to me & have nothing bad to say about them. I've been here 3 months so far & glad I made the switch. I'm driving less for more money & freedom.

2015 red automatic. Of you're at Crete & thinking about switching over to the owner operator side, they're good to work with

Nice. I’m not at Crete I’m just researching becoming a O/O. Looking into different ways of getting a truck. Thanks for your info it helps lots of us doing research.
