I would not in any way say he failed: he got out because it wasn’t worthwhile/ failed imo is when you lose everything you have pursuing a failed endeavor.
Definitely a good thread to read for those inspired to take a chance.zmster2033, Oxbow, spyder7723 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lol well, you should read the first few pages to get an idea of what you’re looking at, then skip toward the end n come to your own conclusion.
Much as I’m a guy to quickly summarize- it’s kind of a long story for a couple sentences worth of explanation.Oxbow and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
try speed reading. take a pen or something and play Beethoven music to help the brain and use it as a pointer to keep your eye from moving back and rereading lol.

Some brokers will say that you email them your offer and that the best offer is considered but there is no transparency of how it is done.
Even Convoy and JB hunt will often call you - a bid winner - and try to convince you to go down with the rate. -
To clarify: that would in all likelihood end up being between 5/6.5 hours round trip if everything went as expected. N then what? Setting on a Monday in CT while every thing else you can do is for the next day. And if you load at 6am on a Monday means you had to have a empty trailer setting there all weekend waiting on it more often than not.
However much that rate sounds like per mile is pointless- it’s local work and tarping n untarping in an overall ####ty area for trucks; and ####ty for reloads. Waste most of a day ####ing around for $400 and doing all the manual tarping- if you don’t value your time, no one else will either.
One of those things where the broker in question is basically a reposter of the shippers loads n rates, minus his cut. 5 other brokers have the same loads for about the same money every time for years now. Admiral merchants, tql, etc etc -
Go to CH Robinson, TQL, Landstar. You will hear a lot of horror stories about these 3 and so did I. I tried all 3 and have good luck. It all depends on who you talk to for the loads. But read this carefully and twice if you have to. DO NOT take one cheap load from either. Once you do you are doomed. I have one person I talk to at CH and when I call for a load he will say I have one but I won’t even offer you because I know you won’t haul what they are paying. And when he has one he knows is at my rate he will call.

Some of these old threads do have a documentary value. It is gold mine for US Trucking historians, if there are any.

The girl said to me they could do it for $25 less than my offer, which was still $100 more than their "accept now" offer.
I got what I wanted, they got what they wanted and the bid was automatically updated in the app.Dino soar, SteveScott, Socal Xpress and 1 other person Thank this. -
I wouldn't do it for 400 either. I think it is good to think about cost per day over cost per mile. But yes, see I am going to get a kit soon for a flatbed which is why. I don't see many postings on the board for Conestoga though. They post flatbed but nothing that says Conestoga specifically or that i have seen. Has it helped you get freight before because some shippers were not into risking getting loads wet as they can with tarps etc.?
