Not normally, it is your truck. But depending on who you work for and their shippers and consignees rules, pets may not be allowed. But that is not the norm.

Any restriction usually comes from shippers/receivers. I have not seen a company really have any problem with a owner having a pet. After all, any detrimental effects of having a pet on board are your problem, not theirs. As with most things, restrictions come about because someone else screwed it up for everyone.

Most of all its my company....i make the rules!!!!!!!

The pet thing is a rarity. But I am sure that you have been in shippers and consignees that will not even allow riders or children on their property. I know I have, but I would not subject another human to my job or even one of my dogs.

Good, Mike! LOL I wouldn't want to subject a poor defenseless animal to trucking! Heck, some days, I don't like subjecting ME to trucking!

But the shippers are paying the rate, so......

Heck, I demand certain things and standards from companies I pay for a service. I expect employees to meet certain standards at McDonalds or I am not going to buy a burger there. I am not certain, having only been in this industry for a quarter of a century, but I have not experienced all that many increases in control by shippers or companies in that time. Seems like most of the control is coming from Government. And if you are leased to a carrier, they are paying the bills to have you run the freight, so they have some input on how it is done. No different than dealing with a shipper or receiver as an independent. As a smoker, I don't like that a shipper will demand I don't smoke on the property, but I am taking their money so I deal with it for the short time I am there. They stay happy and I take their money. Heck, just keep the pet in the sleeper while at a customer and make no mention of it, and who will know anyway?

I thought this was a service industry. Silly me.

You have a very valid point...

    WE ALL ANSWER TO SOMEONE.....BUT

THE MORE FREEDOM I HAVE THE BETTER.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE IN CHARGE OF ME ON SOME LEVEL....

BUT WHAT I AM GETTING AT.FOR ME IT HAS TO BE VERY MINIMAL,THE WAY I LOVE IT.....

THE FREEDOM I HAVE IS A BLESSING

I see the only reason these rules have came about is because most of the companies that have these rules have lease purchase deals. As we all know most of the guys that do a lease purchase are not ready to be an o/o, so the companies have to step in and set some strict rules.

I do agree, it is MY TRUCK and I do things the way I want to. Thats why before I have signed any of the 3 leases I've done in the past I read the lease at least 4 times until everything is clear to me. I had a great sounding company want to lease me on, but when I asked them for a copy of the lease to read through they refused...talk about fishy. So if you don't like the rules, don't sign it. If ya already signed it. it's your fault and you got two choices. One, cancel the lease and go somewhere else, or two, deal with it.
