Does anyone have ISX cummins issues to report. I am truck shopping and have heard that the EGR valves are the down side to the motors.

The Peterbilt (ex-Volvo Dealer) in Texarkana I've spent 341$ for what tey called AC fixed.
So the high pressure hose between compressor and condenser was broken and they cutt the hose where was broken and inserted a 2.5$ metal pipe from NAPA. For that repair they asked me 341$. After they charged the system with freon I started the truck and the "repair" snapped againg loosing the freon. They asked me to pay again for freon and two more clamps.

egr valves, internally leaking egr coolers, broke exh manifold bolts, air compressor issues, head gaskets that leak oil at the rear, this being on used trucks with over 300,000, some with less than that, but they all have issues, its a lesser of evils kinda thing with used or new trucks, but also with emmissions, I would not buy a 2008 or newer truck with a dpf on it. Its a crap shoot. 1 piece of advice find a good trustworthy mechanic, you will need him.

Must be nice having the tools to drop a trans and replace the clutch yourself. Just had one put in mine along with a front trans seal it cost me $1900 ouch. I hope I can scratch enough cash together some day to have a decent little shop for my truck.

Luckily the truck im running now is just a Chevy HD Wrecker so the job wasnt that bad, but I do have a tranny jack that is pretty beefy, not sure if id want to tackle a big eaton with it though. It might do it with some fixin up.

I have spent the better part of the last 10 years working really hard so I could get my shop, I got out of big trucks when the economy went south now im doing impounds repos and accidents, keeping the bills paid. I really want to get out on the road again though, the nice thing is having a shop I will be able to build my next truck exactly how I want it.

Check out www.steelbuildings.com I have delivered steel to thier factory before, they seem like they make a good product. I know for a 35x36' building with 18' celings they will charge you about 15,000 delivered.
