Are there any owner/operators here who run under Prime's authority and haul Prime's freight?
I have some questions.![]()

You could set your questions down here, or call leasing...
Most of us have inquired about it at one time or another. -
Thank you

My questions:
1) When operating as an O/O under Prime's DOT authority, will Prime allow you to go "off-the-grid" for a month so you can haul freight under someone elses authority? I am interested in doing some work in Canada and Alaska.
2) What are the restrictions on trucks? I am in the flatbed division and want to know what trucks I'd be eligible to purchase to use. -
My understanding is that you can do that as long as you are operating under your own authority. If you're leased to Prime using your truck and running under their authority, I believe it's a different story.
Its your truck, and as an independent contractor you can order your comings and goings - so you can always take as much time off as you like. I can choose to not run as a lease operator, but I can't take my truck wherever I like.
No older than 2 years... that is since this is 2011, it must be a model year 2009 or newer. 240" wheelbase max (?) - I'd need to check on that. I also believe there is a load weight that you must be able to scale... 44,000 comes to mind.
If you buy a truck that you leased through Prime, you can lease it back onto the logistics side. That changes the 2-year old or newer picture. If you want hard facts on all of that, they have an information sheet with all of this on it, just drop by leasing and ask for it. Or, call leasing... 800.491.1240.Last edited: Jun 11, 2011
