Rule #1 for being an O/O: A truck is nothing more than a hole running down the road.....:biggrin_25523:

Let's start off with the cost of a rig...You see the prices post in the classifieds
Then move to insurance premiums.....$7k-$10k a year
Fuel won't always be cheap so plan on getting back up to at least $1K for a fill-up
and that doesn't cover the cost of permits, IRP, OR and NM registrations, IFTA......
What about the cost of maintaining your rig?
You have to pay yourself somehow too.....

i was talking to my dad the other day and he told me that as long as you working for somebody you will never be rich you only make what they want you to make and if you had your own business at least you will have a CHANCE to get rich thats why i started thinking about being an O/O and i also hear guys just doing it for the money but in my case its not that i love just looking at rigs let alone driving one

I'm an O/O and I won't get rich doing it.
Btw, just because you own your own business, you are not completely autonomous.....every time I sign a contract...that broker or shipper is the BOSS...period.

    Rockatansky Thanks this.
