500 feet away from US59 in Lufkin is an odd place to try and live out a suburban soccer mom dream lol.

The air pollution part was funny though. Just a whole bunch of soccer moms doing the typical routine of beating around the bush instead of just being honest and saying "we think truck drivers are less than us. We absolutely still want the oat milk and low fat wheat thins they bring us though".

A satellite view of the neighborhood made it even better. You can really tell they have a strong desire for privacy based on their 30 foot spacing between homes. Nice looking homes though, so I get it. I just think they shouldn't have expected a vacant commercial lot on US59 to sit unbothered forever :D

Don’t forget the old classic “drugs & human trafficking” excuse!!;)
I would also say prostitution but no one at the city council meeting actually mentioned it!

Lufkin does have truck stops on its outskirts but they’re small and with exception to the Loves, paid parking.

There is already an Exxon Travel stop at that intersection on the southbound side. It has a few truck parking spots. I suppose the new one wants to build on the Northeast corner in that vacant land.

This seems to be a trend in recent years...the home itself is plenty big but they're built right on top of each other looking into your neighbor's windows. I get that land isn't cheap in a lot of cities, but I'd personally put up with a longer commute in order to get some breathing room.

That’s pretty much going to happen near any truck stop, unless you build a barrier wall to deter it, and/or enforce littering penalties.

Craziest part is that product probably got rejected for being frosted or slightly damaged and could've easily been picked up by a local food bank

    Concorde and mjd4277 Thank this.
