I am from Ontario and have my class AZ from Ontario. I am currently working in Saskatchewan and Alberta. I see some other jobs here in Alberta i wouldn't mind applying for but i need my drivers abstract. I know back home i just go to the gov't office and get my drivers abstract i guess my question is, is that drivers abstract for my province or the whole country? Can i get one from Alberta or do I need one from Ontario because that's where my licence is from?

Need one from home province. Tried getting one in Edmonton and was told to go back to Saskatchewan and get one.

Well that's quite a predicament. I'm driving gravel trucks for an asphalt crew but my whole intention was to get out on the oil field while out here. Oh weel i work on getting my h2s and what not first then i will worry about it

Didn't think of online services. Will future employers accept a uncertified abstract or does it have to be an original?

Does not work for Ontario licences. Something to do with Ontario's privacy policy.

Just go online and get one, worked for me.

Are you sure?? Cause I have gone to companies that have done this, they pay for my abstract and get the information... Also my current employer has a "Fleet" department that handles licensing, vehicles etc. They run abstracts on us at random to make sure we don't have suspended licences and any other issues that may arrise...

Should have been a bit more clear about it. It only works within Ontario. Outside of Ontario (like Alberta) they will not grant your employer access to your driving record. I had to give in a copy of my abstract every month until I switched my licence over to an Alberta licence. Not sure about Saskatchewan, but I would safely assume it would work the same way. Apparently it works for BC drivers in Alberta.

Just like my auto Insurance, I could not just change my address. I had to get a new policy, letters of experience, drivers abstracts for all drivers and proof of residency to get Alberta insurance. Only my commercial insurance company was a national insurer, so all that was needed was a copy of my Alberta licence and new address.

Why does it have to be so complicated, we are all Canadian's.
