I saw something I'd never seen before coming down the big hill into Oregon on 5 last week.
There's two bail out ramps. Think there's two. Anyway about a 1/3 of the way from the bottom, there is a sign lit up by where it says emergency truck ramp....OCCUPIED.
Mmmmm.....ok.
Mosey on down, sure enough there's a Cascadia in the gravel.
Seen that before.
What I haven’t seen is the wrecker parked all the way across the front of the ramp.
I mean that's a big hill. What if somebody else is coming down out of control?
It's not like "Sir, you'll have to try back later."
Or should you make a reservation?
The whole thing just struck me as WTF, JUST WOW.

I do not have enough fingers and toes to count up how many times I've seen a May or Marten with smoking brakes parked blocking either one of those ramps.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I was thinking the same thing as I went by a couple of those last week, myself. If you gotta stop, and the ramps are “occupied”, as they put it, what do you do? Ditch it and hope for the best?
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I saw two ladies standing outside their car smoking a cigarette with a dog on the leash coming down doennernpass area....
I was mind blown to the lack of brain cells they smoked away with those cigarettesDave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Should have used the app and reserved ahead. Too many think they can park all willy nilly in the escape ramps like they do in the truck stops and it’s just not true.
It’s amazing where some will park because of no trip planning skills, or refuse to pay reserved parking fees. -
