Old dominion is hiring linehaul drivers here in southern cali out of the Rialto terminal. What types of runs should i expect out of rialto?
Arizona, Nevada, washington, oregon type areas?
Not a fan of OTR and i understand linehaul is different so i wanted to ask this here so i can get a better idea of what areas I'll be going to and how far out of cali
Thanks for any info

Linehaul tends to be more of regional thing though right?
-
Line haul is usually terminal to terminal.. rarely delivering anything.. but if its CA and you are running north, the Tule fog is scary as heck and the mountains leaving LA and the mountains dropping into Oregon isn't a lot of fun in the winter

Yeah when i was OTR i was going thru Oregon and man it was beautiful..it was summer time tho. Not curious to see how it looks in the winter

Map out a distance of about 550 mi. Any city that distance would be a destination for you to bed down for the night and switch out and return. Redding, Ca for instance or western N.M. Or, cut the 550 in half and you would swap out at around 275 mi out and back to home terminal same day.

Most OD linehaul runs are home daily, including the extra board. Some locations do have bag runs that require a layover, but it's not as common. There are also wild drivers that stay out 5 days then come home for two off, but out and back seems to be the norm.
Total daily miles tend to be between 500-600, so anything in a 300 mi. radius is fair game. -
Of course one needs a truck with enough horsepower to be able to run that, since pups pull like a lead sled.
motocross25 Thanks this.
