    From what I can tell that is slightly more money than most otr drivers make in thier first year, when you look at how many more hours an otr driver puts in, you are making much more for your time.

    Not every job requires otr experience, also these are private companies setting thier own requirements largely driven by thier insurance policy, there are no government regulations on otr experience for jobs so you can't really say that it will or won't hold you back in the future

    i had a local job. for 10 years. when the economy took a dump. i couldn't get an OTR job for nothing. other then swift. who wanted me to lease. a small company came along. advertised home weekends so i said what the heck. not like i do anything during the week anyways. and the wages around here have really taken a dump.

    emailed my resume. got the call 10 minutes later. went to work 2 weeks later. 18 months later i'm still there.

    something will come along. and it'll be a small carrier. you don't really want to work for a mega anyways.

    i miss chicago too....every chance i get....( i have no problem driving thru there..just hate being tailgated so bad that it looks like i am pulling doubles)....

    So I just received an email and he doesn't have any trucks available. ?!?! Sorta changes things doesn't it? HA!
