ODFL expands global trade services to comply with U.S. Customs rules

OD Global, a division of Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., on Friday, March 20, announced an expansion of existing global trade management services to include new Importer Security Filing (ISF) functionality, allowing Old Dominions U.S. import customers to comply with the new regulations issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) effective Jan. 26.

Under the new regulations, importers and vessel-operating ocean carriers will be required to provide CBP with advance notification for all ocean vessel shipments inbound to the United States. The ISF, commonly known as the 10+2 initiative, is a CBP regulation pursuant to section 203 of the SAFE Port Act of 2006 and section 343(a) of the Trade Act of 2002, as amended by the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, for nonbulk ocean shipments arriving into the United States.
