hmm depending on the company, elogs allow personal conveyance / off duty driving. the company I'm employed by now allows it if the tractor is in L/P or O/O status but not as a company driver. Looks like it boils down to who's paying for the fuel. On paper (different company) I logged off duty when going home, the grocery store, laundry, entertainment and the like bobtail or with an empty trailer.

On the drive line when pulling the occasional double hopper bottom home loaded for a local early am delivery.. the company allowed it

Half the family is already there and I plan to go after retiring. obama's family there is tired of him said we could keep him..
The problem mentioned was self correcting with no cost to taxpayers. Might be a lesson to learn there?

You're looking at it like uncle ray-ray wants you to. Now look at it this way if both parties had rocket launchers either both trucks would be blown into the sky, so I don't think there'd be many incidents like you described. God made man and Sam colt made the equal. Your thought procees is why we have all of this excess regulation. Would you not survive with less regulation?
As soon as you stop letting them convince you that you need them to survive you'll see who the fools are for real.
Freight moved before the fmsca and will move after they're gone...

Never stated I was for it. I think it is out of control.

But, so would a scenario without regulations. Business was the reason the logs came out in the first place.

LOL. No. Log "on duty not driving". while at the DMV but YES you do need to log "driving" while driving your car to/from the DMV. Same with driving to the parts store while working on your truck this weekend. Log "on duty" while working on it, "driving" while going to the parts store, "on duty" while buying parts....

Im sure everyone does that right?

This is inaccurate, you are misinterpreting the regulations. But hey do what YOU want, however it is best to not offer advice to other folks based on your wrong opinion.

Wrong . You only log driving while driving a CMV . Driving a non-CMV is just on duty . I'm sure of this because I worked for a company that used CDL drivers to transport workers in vans and crewcabs .

Yeah right an there's an easter bunny, tooth fairey and santa claus? If was ever in the situation where some moron started questioning about that I'd have to laugh and walk off.
