On this run from Fresno to Kent, WA...had the opportunity to stop in and check with CA scale (Cottonwood) and WA POE, (Ridgefield);

CA position on "personal conveyance" is exactly what Scalemaster has posted. Bobtail or unladen, short distance (no real definition on total distance, closest would be "local movement" for mall, restaurant). Anything under company direction/request would be logged time.

WA position is more strict. WA doe not recognize "unladen" as personal conveyance, you must be bobtail, the trailer is considered "part of freight", or "company movement".

I brought this up with a company owner. Here in MD 1 of the company driver got pulled in to the scale and asked for his log book and after he said "he didn't need 1 the cop called his supervisor, who said "you can't write a log violation if he isn't loaded." And secondly he was in the 100 mile air radius of his terminal.

well i would log it driving and when i return to trailer logging it i would throw those two pages away and make it look like i never left problem solved
