There’s an opening at the hospital near here for a surgeon. Granted I’ve never used a scalpel, but it pays really well so I’m going for it. Wish me luck
Surfer Joe, kemosabi49, De Trucker and 10 others Thank this. -
snowwy, buddyd157 and diesel drinker Thank this.

! I am keeping fingers crossed for OP but it would be better than any "reality" show.
Dumdriver Thanks this. -
There's always plan B.
Just something to think about before you
Hop in that truck.
Walk into that office tomorrow and spill all
Your beans, just like you done on here.
Apologize for lying about driving a stick and tell
Them exactly what you told us.
Tell them thier job offer was so good you couldn't
Pass it up, and you were afraid that if you told
Them you couldn't drive a stick you wouldn't get
The job. So you lied about it.
But after thinking about it over the weekend you
Realized if wasn't worth the risk to you or them.
Yea, suck up to them.
There's 2 things that anybody who runs a trucking
Company loves to hear.
How great you think they are, and you care about safety.
You got them both covered and you came clean
Before something bad happened and put everybody
In a bad spot.
Now it's up to them. They could tell you thanks
For being honest but we can't use you right now.
Which would suck, but you didn't burn that bridge
Of the only good local job in your town.
But I'm almost 98 percent sure that they'll be glad
You told them the truth beforehand.
They'll call in one on thier regular drivers,
And have him show you how it's done.
You might have to ride with him for a day or two
Until he tells them you can handle it.
Better safe than sorry.
Knowing what I know from 25 years of all this craziness
In this industry. If it were me and this was the be all/
End all, of jobs where you live, I'd walk into that office
Tomorrow morning and for 30 minutes beg for mercy
And get the job that way.
If its as good a job as you say it is, they'll understand
Exactly why you done it. They might have asked you
If you knew how to drive a stick because someone
Before you tried this exact samething and it didn't
Work out so well. You never know.
Just something for you to think about.Just passing by, Gearjammin' Penguin, LoneCowboy and 2 others Thank this. -
sheesh...all that squishing sound he must make when he walks.. -
What if they are reading this thread. Wouldn't be the first time.
HotH2o, austinmike, Coover and 1 other person Thank this. -
Western Flyer is right. Walk and tell them the truth. Dont ramble and be well worded. If this were with us we would literally laugh it off and we would go through a short training regiment.
TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this. -
I say tell them up front as well
-
Honesty is the best policy in this situation. If you have no experience driving a stick, you won't be a safe driver on the road. At the very least they could have someone give you a 1-2 hour lesson.
I've road tested people who can't drive stick but say they can. I can tell they are good drivers, but they just can't handle the manual. If they told the truth, we would have offered them a job and training.Feedman, Dan.S and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this.
