it has been said many times now in this thread, (what you) have said.
i am wondering if he had been up front, about not being able to shift, would the company have him go on a "ride along" with another driver for at least one day, then give him a try, at the end of that day, to see what he could do.
if he could have shown "some" capabilities to shift, maybe the next day, have HIM drive, while someone was with him. sure, it would have been costly for the company to do this, but an effort could have been considered on both ends.
but now, as someone else mentioned a few posts ago, this whole thread could have just been done "in jest" by the o/p....
we will never really know.
Offered a great paying job close to home, but manual trucks only.

i think this goes to show that a clean record trumps most everything.
to the op: good luck. shifting will come around, be patient and try your best not to get anxious. anxiety will hinder even the best of drivers. -
If true, all this proves that lie and deceive to get ahead.Offroad1978 and buddyd157 Thank this. -
The way i see it. Is he's not out of the woods yet.
After 1 day of training. Whoever trains might decide that he just don't have it. And they may not decide to hire him.
Also, I wonder if he's still going to get the wage advertised. Considering he has no experience in what they asked for. They might lower him to a training wage till he gets the experience.Dumdriver, Offroad1978 and buddyd157 Thank this. -
We're going to start seeing this happen more frequently. Mega carriers have been going to automatic for a few years, and smaller carriers usually prefer standard. I've heard the mega carriers are slowly going back to stick because the fuel economy is slightly better and it's less expensive doing service and repairs. It's all about the money to them. Personally I've never driven auto and never want to.
