So this has been bantered back and forth seems like forever. I ask this question......if you're allowed to show sleeper while in the dock at a shipper/consignee, are you not "at the ready" to move your truck ? Which means you should be on line 4 (on duty). If I buy your argument, then that means I can log line 1 (off duty) and leave the area for a walk or a restaurant. How can I move the truck if I'm away from it ? Log books can be read differently by different people. 15 min to load and or unload ? Come on now, but most cops will accept it. Sleeper berth was originally set for teams, Logging "off duty" is all that's necessary for a single operator, since you are allowed to do anything you want while off duty. Newsflash.....you're not required to sleep !

Sleeper berth is a location, not an activity.

    (4) All time in or on a commercial motor vehicle, other than:
(ii) Time spent resting in a sleeper berth

You can log sleeper berth time ANY time you are resting in the sleeper berth. You do not have to be "relieved from duty" to be resting in the sleeper berth...you just have to be there.

What a slime ball huh? first pulling you over for only 3 mph above speed pretty much says it all, the onus would be on him to prove you weren't sleeping in your cab you've written it down that you were and that's the end of the story, sounds like another case of a copper that has it in for truckers.

Eh...I wouldn't call the guy a slime ball.

    I WAS speeding.

Could have got me for the unsecured tire. I just disagree with the sleeper part. I'm not burning my "clock"

Never mind that. It's HIS road. He can talk to whoever he wants.

There was one doing radar enforcement stepping out of a sports car at Summit where there is no room, not even for that mustang door sticking into my lane with me coming over at 55. I might have taken smokey out thinking its a weapon of some kind the way he deployed it in a hurry. I had a depot load on. Instead I missed him by this much. (Summit was south of York on 83)

You learn to get along, when the Law is standing on your fuel tank using one syllable words and broken grammar out of anger at the boo boo you did in his turf.

Hell, I got pulled over for passing a 45 mph car in a 55 mph zone. Legal passing zone, clear visibility for at least a mile, and didn't get up to the speed limit until after I was clear of the car I was passing (I was loaded). He was about 5 or 6 cars behind me in the line of traffic stacked up behind the 10 mph below the speed limit driver, and passed the whole line to get on my tail and light me up.

You don't necessarily HAVE to do anything wrong to get pulled over. You just have to have the wrong ####0<% near by looking for a reason to go phishing.
