Simple look around, and take your chances. I have ask him what he wanted through the bunk vent before. But no more. I'm not trying to purposely put myself in danger. Guess I'm anti anyone telling me what to do with my equipment and life. This why I do, what I do. Maybe I was raised differently. At no point am I saying be disrespectful. Very well could be a emergency. But if its BS. Im not worried about being respectful. I was not respected.

If you don't have 1500 bucks for bail or wrecker service. You shouldn't own a truck. Michigan requires a cash, or check bond for over weight. You don't move till you pay. Paid my fair share. Just part of the game.

Forgot. They will hold your license sometimes till you come back with the money. Sometimes.

Oh yes they can wake you up. There isn't a law that says they can't.

    It's a policy not a law.

Well after more than 3 decades and more interactions with officers of all types. I have always treated them with respect and received the same in return.
Not sure where all these drivers are having problems with officers.
I have never been woke up for any reason by a law officer. But then I don’t just park anywhere I please.

Make life easy on yourself and don’t argue
With the officer. Take it up in court.

If you need money for bail as a trucker you shouldn't be out here.

Several years ago, parked in a rest area had a cop beating on my truck. Crawled out of the bunk. Uh, what goin on? Yer trucks on fire! I would have prefered an inspection.

Only had 1 time where an officer woke me during my break. Was parked in a lot across the street from my reciever in the morning and the officer was making trucks move due to a no idling after whatever pm law, including running reefers, since there where houses surrounding the lot. Asked and was told I had to move to the street 30ft away if I had to keep the reefer running. So a bunch of us that where parked lined up on the street.

2 other times cops visited me was when I was broke down on the road waiting for road service. They stopped to check on me.

Solution I have found is to wait until the person knocks a 2nd or 3rd time before answering. Most beggars etc will knock, wait, then move on to the next truck. They wont stand there wasting time at a possibly empty truck. If it's something important than the person will keep trying because they actually need you for an important reason.

All of this is a bit moot though, depending on how deeply you sleep. When waiting to swap with another driver I've had them say they where pounding on my truck for 15 mins before I finally woke up.
