    Hey Guys,
Well today marks the Official 1 year mark when I created my business. I cannot believe how fast time went and how far I have come in that year. The beginning was a challenge, not knowing if I was going to be able to get enough loads to keep me going after all the initial money was invested. Most of you remember I started out with a single trailer and a Ram 1500 hauling one unit at a time, and for months and months I heard I would NOT succeed that way. It took 7 more months running that single car trailer and saving up every last nickle so I could upgrade to what I have now.
Honestly I owe quite a bit to the guys on here that didn't sugar coat anything and told me how it is not how I wanted it to be. Ya'll kept me in check gave me advice, pointed out the things I was doing wrong and most of all gave me support. :biggrin_25514:
This year I have learned as an O/O that there is much much more to running the business than just getting a load driving it from point A to Point B. Way more. As a driver for a company I didn't have the worry about fuel cost, vehicle repair, license and registration fees and all the other legal and financial responsibility that comes with being the boss. I am now learning how much preparing my taxes for the accountant SUCKS  but I guess every one of you went through it so now it's my turn.
So now that a year is up and I begin this New Year I hope all the people I met on here and have talked to extensively can and will still give me the encouragement and support to keep moving forward. I owe you all the biggest level of gratitude for showing me,guiding me, and most importantly keeping it real with me. Maybe I could of done this all on my own without your help, maybe I couldn't of, but I am sure glad I had the chance to not go this alone.
So thanks everyone for everything. Your comments, opinions, insight and critical constructive words are and always will be appreciated and taken respectfully. Have a Great rest of the weekend, be safe, use your head and above all come home to your family everytime.

Lite bug, Pnwtrucker and Chasingthesky Thank this.

It really is a lot to do man...congrats. I am burned out on carrier packets and BOL scans and diagnosing truck sounds/feels/finding time for fixing/maintaining....ahhhhhhhg...all while answering the phone all day every day!

I agree especially BOL scans. Thats why I enjoy running for United Road and Cars Arrive everything is on the app and there are no forms to fax scan or email

Maintaining professionalism can be rough with a few brokers....only a few though....and 1 or 2 shippers I can think of over the years...

Thats one thing I have learned through my years is to always be a professional and own your trade. Or profession.

Ryan S2016, First of all, congratulations! That is a great accomplishment in today's economy.
Secondly, thanks for all the comments/advice/lessons learned. I appreciate your willingness to share your experiences, both good and bad.
I am still about 2 years out from starting my own o/o business. Much like you, I will be starting from a position that conventional wisdom says you shouldn't start from but I am determined and willing to learn.
I look forward to hearing more about your experiences and wish you the best luck.

    Ryan S2016 Thanks this.

It is tough holding your tounge sometimes when they try and claim you didnt complete paperwork correctly or giving a reason for a late payment
