As most of you are aware, I drive for Central, until I was hurt. My neck is pretty messed up and I'm still in PT and under a doctor's care. Today in the mail I got a nice letter from Central, not asking me how I'm doing, but to "extends to you a bona fide offer of employment"
Wait, I'm already employed, and with you guys. But no! They have sent me to work at a thrift store! At a new and improved wage of, get this, $9 an hour. If I don't report to work, it is a refusal to work and they will pull my workers comp!
So if you get hurt on the job at Central, I hope you like earning $9 an hour if you get hurt! I've already had one go around with them and the workman's comp people say they can't pay me less the 85% of my wage, which at 30 cents a mile at 65 mph is.....or dentition pay is $16 an hour. I think this is going to get really ugly and I hope some lawyer out there is hungry, because I'm gonna toss them a steak.
Oh Central Refrigerated, why do you keep doing this to me?

30 cents a mile at 65 mph? And how many miles were assumed in this equation to arrive at the figure of $9 an hour?
-
The best part was when the workman's comp person started talking about my medical issues while on speaker phone with other people in the room with her. And then she told me I was faking it, because "people don't get hurt in accidents like this." -
I wish you luck in your case, but I cant believe Central only pays 30 cents a mile!!??

Thats the way its been at any company that I have worked at. JMO
.........Get a Lawyer............ -
As a law school graduate in taxation I have only the following to tell you: GET A LAWYER NOW!!! SUE JERRY MOYER AND CENTRAL FOR ALL THEY ARE WORTH. AFTER ALL DIDN'T HE BUY CENTRAL FOR HIS DAUGHTER SO HE HAS MONEY TO BURN. Your workmans comp lady and her commets are illegal....get a lawyer that works on a percentage. If you don't then don't expect me or anyone else to feel for you.
Yes sometimes suing is the RIGHT thing to do -
what did you do to get hurt? i have had problems with central, unfortunately to solve a problem at central you need to keep on them until it is solved.
-
That might be so if it's a typical truck driver problem having issues delivering-p/u at a customer or something like that. When you get hurt on the job that's a whole nother ballgame...
-
When it comes to workers comp it is a whole nother issue.
When on p/t their is a ponit when they can say you can work the doctor however has to state what limitations you have..They have to be listsed snd given to the company I think it's every week. When those are established and those limitations do not fit with the job description they have to find other work for you to do to offset what work. comp. is paying.
The only time during recovery that a company cannot make you work at all is when the doctor does not release you with limitations.
The original poster has not responded in a while.........curious as to how he has worked out.FZ37 Thanks this. -
