And there might actually be jobs for the currently unhireable...face tattoos, huge gauges and pierced septums won't guarantee that welfare check in 2021.
Oh geez! There’s another one to worry about! Virus!

Went to Lowe’s Home Improvement today. My gosh, it was crowded. Didn’t see a single face mask. Looks like people are more concerned with their gardens, lawns, and flower beds than they are coronavirus. The people aren’t worried, but our leaders are scared little sheep.

The population is in decline, maybe next year there will be a massive increase in little ones, like what happens when a blizzard hits.
650cat425 Thanks this. -
It will definitely be interesting to see what the impact will be on the US population. We're already below replacement levels and terrified of immigrants. We're only a decade apart from Italy in median age, which will likely reduce the impact of population decline due to the virus. But still going to be interesting.

First off, only the oldest 3rd of millennials were old enough for the military at the beginning of the post 9-11 wars (never mind the desert storm prequel). That leaves gen x at the beginning, millennials in the middle, later tapering into gen z. There’s at least 4 generations involved.
Second, you either prefer debt or not. It’s always been that way. No generation has a monopoly on that, either way. Believe it or not, it’s always been like that. It’s why so few people can come up with $500 cash in an emergency. (Guess which demographic has the biggest problem with that. Bonus: guess which demographic they blame it on. Hint - not themselves)
Third, AOL was huge when the oldest millennials were in grade school. About as far from a nerd thing as you could get. It was dumbed down just as much (if not more than) Facebook. It’s what millennials cut their teeth on. Said another way, millennials had nothing to do with creating dumbed down internet portals. It’s what they learned from.
Like it or not, and no matter how divisive you try to be, almost all living generations (including your own) are part of everything good or bad that you either tried to distance yourself from or take credit for. -
personally on the population/birthrate decline. I think that is a good thing. As we're kinda already reaching the saturation point of this planet's ability to support. So having us drop a few million/billion due to people not having kids or as many is a good thing. As long as health as a whole stays improving.
Snailexpress and HoneyBadger67 Thank this.
