Decided huge amounts of personal debt isn't good....except for the trillion dollars in student loans for college.

College...the greatest money making scheme in recent history. I wonder just how many drivers have a degree they're not using.

if people were smarter they'd go to trade school instead of college. A master electrician can make a better killing than some doctors in some states.

2 year degree, structural steel design. Thanks to our industrial recession I'm retrained at 50 yrs old... So even trades vs college is no guarantee... But I erased my school loans in 5 years even as a householder with small children...

Let's not forget who told them that that was the correct path to take?

    Present.

B.S. in Systems Engineering. I tried working for a big tech corporation, but found I wasn't built that way. Then 25 years in the residential kitchen remodeling business, and now gonna be a flatbed trucker.

Only cost me eight years in the Marine Corps. :D

I encouraged my son to go into a few of the trades, e.g., welder, electrician, or mechanic, but he's pursuing a 2 year computer science degree at a local used-to-be community college (now a state college). So far, no debt, and he'll be able to get a good job either at Navy Federal Credit Union or on base.

Of course, many of the trades are already lost to our non-English speaking non-citizens who have driven wages down to the point that a fast food job would be more desirable.

So much Negativity. Believe what makes you feel good. As far as Millennials are concerned, it’s their World to inherent. I’m in with the very last of the Boomers, my Father was in with the first. Truth is the Boomers were the first spoiled rotten bunch of Kids to inherent todays world. The Millennials are no worse. In some ways less Materialistic, and question the status quo. It’s when people stop questioning, that they’re at risk of danger.
