Surprised Bob Seger didn’t make your list.

Here’s a Thomas Rhett video shot inside a run down, dilapidated Detroit Bar & Theater. You’d probably recognize it and know where it is.

Back when I worked in Detroit a bunch of the abandoned houses were getting torched.

Jobs left, was a city built on the auto industry. Real estate crash in 2008-9 was what finished it off. That and the city went bankrupt with virtually the only revenue saving them was from tax foreclosures.
Tide seems to be slowly coming back. Population finally increasing again and lots of investors making a killing on real estate.

Tons of road construction, roads closed etc. Tough place for truck drivers who aren’t familiar with the roads and how to get around..especially the ones who rely solely on a gps.

I kind of like the place..just have to get used to seeing a lot of bullet proof glass, like at a Post Office.

He only was there once and he filling in for someone in the MC5 and was a disaster. I saw him a lot of times in small clubs, especially in Ann Arbor, he was much better before the SSB.

I also left off the Stooges and Joe ####er.
Part of the problem was the way the city was designed, it wasn't like other midwestern cities, it had industry and housing all combined, it was a labor town.

The decline started in the late 50s but in the early 50's there was a union movement that forced some companies to go south or close their doors, which devastated pensions. By the mid-50s' we had four car companies close their doors, a few dozen suppliers, and a bunch of major parts suppliers (continental and other engine manufacturers) close and/or leave the city.

When the riot happened in 1967, it was the end of the city. By that time, there was so much mismanagement, so much of a dismal future, and an artificial increase in housing costs (this was the reason for the alleged white flight) that forced a lot of people to just leave. One of the problems for all, not just blacks, was Mayor Cavanagn's approach to crime-fighting had a serious imbalance, continuing the Big Four (three plainclothes cops and a uniformed driver in a heavily armed car) policing and with the strike teams that were hidden from the public, it targeted more than blacks, but they were the most vocal about it. My dad and I went to a jazz club when we left we were pulled over less than a block away by a big four-car. They pulled us out of the car, then went through the car, pulling my dad's tools out of the trunk, and dumping them on the ground. one of them was accusing him of being a burglar and had me in handcuffs sitting on the street in the rain. No reason for it, they just were harassing people as they normally did when they were bored.

The WHO? REALLY?????? A bunch of 4 London yobbos left old Blighty just to come to the US to "get their start"? Hmmm......I think all of those old concert recordings the BBC owns would tend to say otherwise.....Even Wikipedia says so: "The Who are an English rock band formed in London in 1964.". Continuing, it says "By the time the Detours had become the Who, they had already found regular gigs, including at the Oldfield Hotel in Greenford, the White Hart Hotel in Acton, the Goldhawk Social Club in Shepherd's Bush, and the Notre Dame Hall in Leicester Square." They didn't even tour the US until 1966! Don't believe everything old hippies tell you.......

Look up the history of The Who’s tour dates. You will see their first US gig was there. Just like 60 years ago yesterday at the Cow Palace in San Francisco the Beatles had to start somewhere in the US for a world tour.

Yes, but the Who, just like the Beatles, were a WELL-established group years before they made their first US tour, both having already even toured Europe. Also, The Who didn't really gain much popularity here in the US until the 70's..........
