I want to learn to drive a dump truck as I want to haul dirt, aggregate, mulch and such on a part time basis.

I hear the CDL/Permit (Class B for non trailer trucks) written test is not too hard, but the thing I need is to find someone who will let me ride along/drive a truck so I can get the feel of it.

I talked to a couple of guys who own trucks. They say they would like to help me out, but the insurance cost is to high, even for a ride along let alone letting me drive.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Go to a dealer that sells them. You can at least sit in one and crawl around under it etc. If you can B.S. the sales guy just a bit, he might take you out for a spin. I know, not the same as driving it, but, if you can't find someone to oblige you, what you gonna do?
