Send the sample to blackstone and ask them to do an OA, what is in the oil and how old it is.
I had a shop that would claim to do an oil change for us, and it was the OA that showed the oil was just being drained a little and fresh oil was put in to make it look like the oil is up to the level it needed to be. They were doing this on a bunch of my trucks and was caught doing it though the OA.
Oil change 20 miles ago and it is already black with white on top

This is why I do my own oil changes/services. It’s even more convenient now that I added/changed the oil drain plug to the EZ drain valve. I had a friend that kept insisting I go to this shop to get a service. I did, when I went to look the truck over, they had missed several grease fitting’s. I went and confronted them, found out that usually put the newbies to do oil services. Anyways, they apologized and offered me 50% discount on my next service. I told them no thank you. You won’t be seeing me here again.

Yes folks some good points made here, its really a process of elimination really, white stuff in the oil my first thought was you've got a cracked head and water is getting through into the oil although that would not make it go black. That is very unusual to see oil go black after only a few miles of driving, my next guess would be did they change the oil at all. Did you look at the oil check the dip stick after they'd done the oil change? Like you said you need to do about 10 000 miles before it'd lose that nice shine to it, my guess would be they never changed the oil to start with perhaps they had some new apprentice on the job that couldn't care less who knows? Its usually those guys that get those easy jobs to start off with.

Did they happen to add any additive to the oil? This could change it and may even explain the white stuff?

Siinman Thanks this.

I will say that my ISX 15 oil does get dark right about 3k miles on it, compare to my former 5EK Cat which would start getting dark after 6-7K. I’ve been told by several, if it gets dark sooner, the oil is doing its job by keeping the internals clean, the filters do there job my keeping the contaminants and debris out of the system. My guess would be on these newer emissions engine’s, the oil is absorbing the excessive soot from the EGR system.
Brandon0928 and Siinman Thank this.
