Ok I work for a company that services the oilfield( moving equipment etc.. and they have crews that build roads and other oil field related stuff) and the dispatch guy keeps making comments about getting 5 line logs and some drivers have been told by DOT that we cant use that line 5. My question is can we use that line 5 logs or not?
Oil field hos rules question.

Line 5 is off duty time at "well sites". I don't believe you can use it for anything else. If you need more proof just google the exact wording and show it to you safety dept.

my brother in law hauls oil. using the standard 4 line log and the same rules that apply to us.

Ya I would probably need to make a call to TX Dot and see what they say but Im sure we cant use the 5 line logs.

About 2/3 of the way down the page on the link provided, you'll find a heading with "PART 395 - HOURS OF SERVICE FOR DRIVERS" in bold print. Question 8...and the guidance for it...spell it out pretty clearly. It doesn't sound like you would qualify to me.

They might pay the tickets for you , but it will be on your MVR, CSA 2010, PSP report. That would make it your problem. I worked for a couple of outlaw companies and they don't care what their policies do to your record. So I would follow the law and find another company to work for.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on them to pay the fines either.....
