Call the dealer 1st, I will check tomorrow, I bought one last fall for a 96 FLD120 with a 12.7. I do not remember it being that much new, but I'll double check when I log in tomorrow what it was exactly. I want to say in the $500-600 range new, but I could be way off. They did make a few different pan styles depending on the chassis.

I do have a good used one off a dead parts truck, I doubt the owner will want to sell it since we still have trucks that it fits, but I'll ask.

The front cover were the water pump mount bolts go in has a dimple if memory serves me right, if someone puts in to long a bolt they can break thru, What I do is try blowing into the hole if it blows thru then the cover is broken it is not that big of a deal.
What I do is solvent wash the hole, and then take the bolt and fill the threads with locktite 5699 gray silicone, and thread it in an torque it.
The dye is a Cummins part # 3376891
    Just a thought!

New oil pan from Sherwood Freightliner last fall was $451.02. This was for part # 23522283, which may not be the same pan that you need, this was for a 96 FLD120.

You can get a leak going down the lines were the front cover and the block meat and the rear cover meats the block. To be certain it does not leak down those gaps is to wipe it off with solvent and put on silicone Locktite 5699, then install the pan with a new gasket and isolators. putting washers and other crap on the pan could cause a problem with the pan, I worked on the S60, from day one and only saw one pan cracked it was hit by a rock. I was involved with changing out a lot of Cat oil pans, cracking in the middle and Cummins from corroding thru.
    Just a thought!

yeah I am going to look at pan first before buying new, if pan is good, I will keep it. as far as washers, I would not think any washers would do any good on oil pan. I did put washers on the bolt going thru bottom of water pump, thinking if the shop that worked on it last put the wrong bolt in,(one too long) the washers would remedy that.

are the oil pan bolts to be torqued or just bottomed out?

18-22 ft/lbs. There is a torque sequence, center working out. 1/8" of RTV across the front and rear structure joints.

Source of leak found. shop told me the oil leak is coming from the weep hole on water pump. said the weep hole will leak coolant if one internal seal leaks & there is another seal that is on the oil side of the pump & it was this oil seal that was bad allowing the oil to leak just as the it would if it was on the coolant side. new aftermarket w.p. new brass shut off valve on 3/4 line replaced one that had small leak, coolant, labor,$187.00, total $578.00 still have other small leaks, but if this fixes the major one, it will now be eaiser to track down the rest. drove 30 miles back home, so may be next week before I find out for sure off work til mon/tues. thank all of you, for your help :biggrin_25514:
