    Hello,

I have an issue since yesterday. 2008 international prostar Cummins isx.
Whenever im at a red light or idling my oil pressure drops in between 13-19 depending on engine heat. It gives me a engine warning light. Then I keep driving pressure goes back up and engine warning light goes away.

Just had an oil change and had them put Mobil 1 synthetic blend this time usually regular oil. I didn’t have them put Lucas oil stabilizer. Could that be the reason ?

Always verify with a mechanical gauge first. Then loss of oil pressure is usually a worn oil pump and/or pressure regulator. Bearing rolls do not increase oil pressure that significantly, maybe only a couple or few psi, but certainly not 15 psi. I would also recommend to pull the rocker cover and see if any cam bearing have walked out.

^^^ Always use a test gauge before you start throwing money at the problem. These gauges nowadays are electric/electronic. A poor connection or failing sensor can be enough to feed the gauge an incorrect reading.

How recent was the oil change? Check your oil level and see if its over full. If you have fuel or coolant leaking into the oil it will dillute it and thin it out.

My first stop would be to pull the connector for the oil pressure sensor and look for oil leakage into the connector. Dead giveaway bad sensor. No point getting all excited over a 50 dollar sensor. Next step, get out the gauge an verify accuracy. Next most likely Is plugged oil filter. From there get out your wallet, never a good ending a rebuild could be in your future.

Quality In frame rebuild could run around twice that number depending on condition and parts needed. Remember I said quality, not cheapest backyard get ya by for a while.
