It takes more than 2 to tango...somethin like that.
Anyways all you have to do is trust her and not worry about the idiots. They're loud and raunchy but most guys out in the patch are good guys.
I always enjoy watchin guys hit on my wife, ex wife, ex gf's, etc and getting shot down. Always makes for a good laugh.
I can put you in touch with my boss and Im sure they can get y'all in a truck runnin sand and water.

S Tx sucks compared to Midland/Odessa IMO. It might be because I just run frieght out there and head back, but I always seem to get stuck staying down in Kenedy/Karnes City with no decent truck stops and nowhere to shower.
Of course I ld rather be down there than back out in Tucson.austinmike Thanks this. -
Does anyone know if you are offered free housing can you request allowance instead and is this common? Do companies give the choice or not really? -
Co we're leased to charges $20/day for an apt. Might work for their co guys who run day cabs and slip seat, but I got a nice sleeper, I just need a shower every other day or so.mac121 Thanks this. -
Just call it hidden. There’s more goes on there than meets the eye. Much much more.
There used to be a very active Polo team there. Mostly rich and bored snobs. Collector cars were fashionable. Most teens drove stylish cars (BMW, Mercedes, etc) while their parents drove souped up classic iron.
Midland/Odessa (Midessa for the locals) is a hidden gem. When it booms, things really come to life there.mac121 Thanks this. -
The Permian Basin is a hellhole! Don't understand why anyone would bother unless they are being paid six figures plus. Obviously some are, yet I still wouldn't go there for that. The highways are very dangerous due to fatigued oil field drivers and their fatigued equipment.
Life is whatever you make of it I suppose, I just couldn't imagine making any sort of life or job there! All anyone has to do is take a drive thru that area to understand how bad it really is. I'm a native Texan and hate to bash on any part of the Lone Star state, but this place is awful. -
I honestly couldn't even work there for any length of time and then on to house for home time. A neighbor of mine does it as an o/o but is getting out now at it's prime. He is actually netting ridiculous money but just can not stand spending any more time there.

Pecos and a lot of the area between Pecos and Carlsbad sucks! Not sure who thinks West TX is the #### but they obviously have not been to any other part of the USA, lol! You got dust, bad traffic, crappy service, restaurants that overcharge and underdeliver, tore up roads. And if you are working out there in the oilfield and driving lease roads and county roads, you better get a good life insurance policy and chiropractor!
RockinChair and Scoot 1971 Thank this. -
For those thinking on W Texas, my advise it come on in! We moved here 5+ yrs ago from S. Wisc. and have not regretted. Steady work, plenty of places to eat, shop, etc. Prices are a bit higher on some things, but cheaper on others. Weather overall is better. One bit of advise, do not rent, do not take company housing. BUY A HOUSE, and make your home here, you will feel much more part of the community. Your weekends will have purpose, not just a HOS re-start.
mac121 and SavageMuffin Thank this.
