Gotta love bad directions and a decided lack of signage.
TwinStickPeterbilt and SheepDog Thank this. -
And yet, I bet my outfit has customers on Rodeo. (I never go out to Cali myself)
Here's a good one, swapped the airlines and spent 20 minutes trying to find "the broken brake chamber".

First real windy day with a covered wagon. Parked outside at my drop, next to be unloaded. Why not get ahead of the game and get everything torn down and ready to unload. Big gust of wind and the ####### tarp is laid off the right side of the trailer. fortunately no one saw it happen and after a fifteen minute wrestling match with a couple hundred pound tarp... I was ready to pull inside and unload.

If anyone repeats this, I will deny it.
I was driving a 379 Pete. I was heavy with a load of bottled water out of Dallas going to the Walmart, DC in Ottawa, Kansas. I got to Big Cabin at the truck stop there and decided to park for the night. Lots of room but there was some patches of ice and snow. Last year not this year. I decided to park at the back of the lot. Pulled around and set up for a straight pull back. No big deal. I had trucks to the left of me about 40 feet away so I just pulled back until my window was aligned with the one on my left. No problem.....except the back of the lot isn't a straight line. It is a CREEK. The trailer is down about six feet below the tractor. Instead of just calling a record, I tried to pull it out by force. Tires spun on the ice and then grabbed the pavement. Twisted the drive line off. $1000 and every S O B in the lot was out with their smart(###) phones taking pictures.
Like I said, I deny it. -
Wen I first started driving in 2007, I was with my second phase trainer(C.R.England) , he got me home to Tampa so I could get my hard copy CDL and to see my wife. One hour after he dropped me off, I called him to come pick me up. My wife wanted a divorce. Not thinking straight we were on our way to Arizona from Florida. I was somewhere in Texas and missed the turn off. I get off at the next ramp, and proceed to the truckstop fuel island to get back on the highway. I forgot that there was a trailer after I passed the fuel pump and started to turn tight. By the time the light bulb came on, I slammed on my brakes only to find that I had just leveled out the upside down "U" shape cement filled steel poleon the exit side of the pump. My trainer said did you hit anything?" I replied to him that i level the steel pole but the pump was fine. He then said, "did anybody see it?" I said "no." His words, "get the ###### outta here!" Hahaha. This was 3 in the morning. We are still good friends to this day.
LoneCowboy and Wooly Rhino Thank this. -
Speaking for a friend of mine. Driver has over 2 million safe miles. He pulled over about 3am at the Little America Wyoming exit 68. Dog tired he climbed into the bed. Woke up the next morning, went to washup and get some coffee, as he was getting ready to take off, he pushed in the airbrake and realized that he never set it when he went to sleep! Mistakes happen even to the most experienced ones!

Hey check it out Rykstone, I got to give you your first thanks.
Anyone who can run over something, is a friend of mine. And the divorce part makes us Brothers -
Well thanks there new brother! I was one of the few to have a successful lease with C.R. England and I was on a dedicated run within 1.5 months making a new home in Salt Lake. I was home every saturday and part of Sunday. In the divorce decree where I had to list my income and assets, she was astonished and actually didn't wamt the divorce anymore. Clearly because of the money. $2000 net a week. Im glad I said no because I met a woman who helped me grow into who I am today. As well as two amazing kids. I would not be a succesful business and fleet owner without her!Hammer166 Thanks this.
