Im going to raise the BS Flag on that one bud. Im in my first year of driving and will almost (if not) double 25k this year. There is money to be made you just have to be willing to work for it. I also haul steel which is a lot more work then most drivers are willing to do.

How much you make the first year depends in part when you start calculating. I started on tankers with Superior Carriers right out of school. Training was 3 months where I was paid 500 per week. I have been out on my own for a month now and gross has averaged around 950 a week. Thats 50K a year if I calculate from solo dispatch, less if I factor in the training time. I have only been running 1500-2000 miles a week so it might get better as the economy improves.

Wow...Only 7 days orientation for a new driver??? Honestly, I hope that this is a misunderstanding. I don't think that anyone is ready to go solo after only a 7 day orientation period. Your first whole year will be a learning curve. Good luck, and please, please, PLEASE be safe out there after your one week of training! It just might be my family traveling on the same highway as you.

Have you had any real rookies lately?

Cuz I know one of mine &#*# near made me crap myself. Dropping off the I-55 ramp southbound on St. Louis side of the bridge. Phone rang and he reached for it, on the ramp.

That's as far as he made it...reaching for it. He got a free ticket home too.

Let me saw your BS flag pole down for you. Okay you made 50K this year...you didn't eat, pay taxes, do laundry, take a shower, buy a radio, or anything else while on the road????? We call that Super Truckin.

I said bring HOME. Not your entire check. HOW MUCH went into your bank account for your family? Did you ever tap that bank account for expences on the road?

If it didn't stay in your banking account for AT HOME expenses, it's a road expense...period.

Of course I realize, that some drivers home address is mobile.

BRING HOME.... A.K.A. "not spent on the road".

Dance, I'm wondering if you love children, think about driving a school bus for a minute. Forty kids, that are not yours. Ya can't beat'em, ya can't disipline them, what are you thinking? I just got a job driving a tri axle dump truck, boring, you bet. I had eight hours overtime on weds eve. starting on monday. I will have off at least three months in the winter but expect to make a minamum of thirty thou. this year. I know that you are smarter than that.
