Im a lease Driver with USX so i can answer as well,

You can have the truck worked on anywhere you want, they do require a DOT inspection every 90 days, fuel where you want but best discount is Pilots/Flying J's, the leases are on used trucks only owned by USX and they have all the records which you can review. you are allowed to have pets (2 Small to medium but absolutely no pit bulls)

I have to differ with some of these, i know some drivers who have done quite well with the 07's - i have a newer truck i am buying at alot more money than the 07's and i have a .09 maintenance out because the truck is out of warranty after 500,000 - mine has 507,000 - not to mention the 07's have an extended warranty added as well, USX has all the maintenance records of all the trucks, if you don't look over that record where you can see if a truck has had alot of issues, well that's on you, as an owner of your own business you should do alot of homework instead of just picking the best looking truck on the line and jumping in and driving, you should be proactive on maintenance, i know my truck inside and out, if something is even slightly out of the ordinary i have it checked, i keep my engine clean, i keep my truck clean so i can see potential issues before they get out of hand, being an o/o is more than just driving, and yes bad luck does happen, but if you are proactive you can avoid major issues. also driving at 70MPH doesn't help either, these trucks have a sweet spot of 62-65 - what is everyone preaching slow down - save fuel

Highwayman I'm not a driver anymore, but I would like to offer a slight amount of input as well.

If the truck is an 07 Freight then make sure you do check all the shop records, as well as ask for any other records from roadside assistance. I know myself and several friends from FFE had these and there were major electrical issues with some of them that could never be found or resolved (they eventually just got scrapped like the one I was driving did). I won't encourage or discourage your choice in any way, if the company is doing right by you, then there isn't alot to complain about despite the luck others have had with it (some companys just don't fit right even with the best of employees).

Make sure you CAREFULLY read all of the documents included for the lease agreement, I know some drivers make it work well. Also, make sure you put back as much as you can spare for repairs, this way worst case scenario you have the money to afford downtime.

I wish you the best of luck, but I know with the 07's there was alot of issues from Freightliner, hopefully you will experience none of them.

So it's your own truck, that you pay the bill for, but they can choose the pets that you bring on. That's like saying, you can bring your wife, as long as she isn't Mexican...WOW. That is bad.

I agree...It's a good post! I pray it all works for you. Nothing is perfect in this world, but it seems you have a good head on your shoulders and a positive attitude goes a long way. Good luck!

Must be a liability thing having to do with dealing with the customers or something. I swear I think sometimes the bean counters and attorneys are running everything.
