Just an observation, relax. Your posts seem panicked. The world is not going to end tomorrow if you don't find a load today. Someone once told me that running a business is like a game of chess. You make a mistake early and you loose a pawn. You should be able to recover. Later in the game you make a mistake it could be your king you loose, ie: game over. Your going to make mistakes. The idea is to roll with it and learn from your mistakes so you get better. Your on the right track, asking questions is one of the best way to learn. Learn all you can and you will do fine. Best of luck to you and your dad.

how about your dad just lease on to a co ? why do you need to find him loads if you have no experience in doing so. I have been trucking for over 11 years & I am a lease o/o I dont know enough & dont want the headache of my own authority. I just dont know why it is imperative for you to be obligated to do this. best of luck to both of you. I am not trying to be sarcastic, I just dont know how to help you. sorry. :biggrin_2557:

Try Craig's list. There is some ads for Flatbed O/O in there.

Very limited & cheap flatbed frieght in those area's. He better update his plate to run a much broader area.

Yea, if it was me and I was out of that area I would try and lease on with Landstar. Or at least get on their boards as quick as I could. Most of the really good paying freight they get in that region is DOD and will not get brokered out.
Help him pick his loads, or you pick them, and keep him running.
Then when you and he both feel comfortable you can step out on your own.
At that point he will have met more shippers and receivers in the region and have a relationship with some of them.
Good luck. The low overhead will help allot.
