I don't think anyone that's actually worked... and took a few years busting it, making the sacrifices necessary to save $200,000 grand or whatever would even dream of trying to pull it off in such a hair brained manner.

Good point.. That's always been my instinct on that one. Most of the wannabe fleet owners or "hobby truckers" - who want a truck or two on the side with hired drivers for "extra income" LoL - just don't have a clue about what a quality driver is and how difficult it is to find one. All the aggravation and whatnot aside.. ..mostly why I o/o is because I find it fun - and it's all I know so why not, right? Employee's change everything...

If you are not a troll ....You seem to think that that this is an easy business that is being by a bunch of rednecks and country boys.....Running a one truck trucking company .....is very difficult ....and bad decisions very costly....One of the great things about America is anybody can go in business.....Most new businesses fail because they are under capitalized and the new business owner is inexperienced ....Having had a little experience down this road...I have had many tell me "THE MOST I CAN LOSE IS...XX ...Amount of Dollars....Wrong the most you can lose is everything.....

You are going to be competing with the most experienced and successful competitors in the business....THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES LEFT!...It is a free country and you do what ever you want...But consider.....The Reason That A Business...That You have Never Run Seems So Appealing Is Often....Just An Illusion....Created By Your Lack Of Actually Understanding It......Millions try and some actually succeed...

Anybody who goes in the trucking business should have a million dollars in their bank account in about 5 years.

Assuming they started with 2 million.

And or the OP just stop responding all together. The OP is probably kicking back in the Lazy Boy laughing at us. But that's OK with me. Because like most of you and I would believe, threads like this from the OP's is usually BS or more to the story not being truthfully told to the world. I take threads like this from the OP's as cheap entertainment.

Not a troll and dead serious/really am looking for information to help succeed.

I now plan on a day cab/end dump to start with contract hauling. This way the O/O learning curve will not be as great in the beginning and hopefully I can end up with a cool hauling company I enjoy. All advice is appreciated but it helps if everybody is focusing on solving issues/questions and not just shutting them down.

I am prepared to pay high insurances and take other losses in beginning when necessary and want to give this venture a try for a minimum two year trial period. I will be purchasing a newer/very low mileage truck/end dump, have reserves and hope to slip seat with other drivers if possible to hire them were the truck is going

I wanna join you guys and win, if not I will crawl back to my desk in two years with my tail between my legs and all ... but in the meantime I've got things like finding a decent sound system/powered sub for my new truck!

I truly appreciate any help along the way!

Do you know where you are going to find work once you purchase your equipment?
