Yes, that's my question. I have pre hires from Werner and western express. I qualify for Star Transportation Out of Nashville. I want to stretch my legs some now that I FINALLY got my CDL A license with X endorsement and Double triples endorsement. I'm waiting to hear back from a few others. All the negativity out there, there has to be something for me. I had my class B for 5 years. I will unload trailers on dollar accounts to make money. I will chain and tarp as I used to run flatbed at tow companies. Recruiters heads are spinning when I tell them this. Oh, and my girl and I don't want to be home every weekend. We want to stop paying rent and save for our first house and hopefully marriage. I only need to be home, barring family emergency once every 3 months. I have a friend running one of those dollar accounts for Werner and he's happy as can be. He's a trainer, and Werner and him have already agreed he will train me if I jump on with Werner. I will be doing dollar accounts if I do jump on with Werner. I'm 31, been around trucks since I was a kid, and have no qualms about manual labor to stack my check. Can I please get some advice? Or maybe some companies I haven't heard of yet? Looking mostly northeast region, but will run as far as NC and as west as Ohio if needed. Thanks y'all!
Ok Ok, how do I read through all the B.S.?

If you're willing to stay out long periods, why not run further west? One of the major problems for most drivers is needing to get home. You're eliminating that need, and state you want to stay out longer, spend more time looking and I think you will find better options.
xlsdraw and BostonTanker Thank this. -
I could run further west, but the money is not In otr. The recruiter from Werner and I talked in depth today. I've been reading multiple sources, and more trailers are being put on rail, and the intermodal. I'd rather run my region, know the majority of the roads, and unload trailers then sit on my aspirin for days on end for any number of reasons. While my license is new, my experience is not. Started when I was 18 moonlighting for uhaul. Then did moving from Maine to Florida. Then got into the towing business. Stayed in that running all types of equipment including the rotator. For the last year, I've been driving a vaccum tanker. I lived in Texas and didn't really dig the south. I mean I'll shoot a Load out west if I was asked. I have friends in California. But otr isn't what it used to be, the money is in my region.

I worked for Werner. Oh the recruiter blew soich smoke up my ### it wasn't even funny. Sounds like he's got you but before you swallow the hook. You should look into tankers and put that X endorsement to use. You'll thank me later

Conway Truckload is a better option. Crete is a better option.
They both have NE Regional fleets as well as 48 state OTR.BostonTanker Thanks this. -

Anything a recruiter tells you, GET IT IN WRITING!
I've heard Dollar General, Dollar Tree, etc, are more than just work. It's backbreaking, from what I've read. If that interest's you, then go for it!Dumdriver and BostonTanker Thank this. -
Werner is all lies

I'm sure they would Let you everyone's hurting for drivers as is. Call around as about a rider program might cost you $20 a month and what not or could be free -
The chemical plants have no sense of humor.
