I know. I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows names of smaller companies. I'm in a good position. I have a job. My bills are paid. I don't need to rush out to the first company. I could work until the end of July before my CDL would become "stale" due to new status. In that time, my current company could buy a tt with a tank and have me drive it. That's why I'm asking questions now lol. So if anyone works for a smaller company looking for a good old school type driver, feel free to post it or message me private.

You're starting out fresh right? Good heavens if so; no, stay away from dollar accounts.

First off, Werner is a pretty crappy company. I can't be more accurate because the forum filter would bleep it all out.

Second, dollar accounts weed through drivers extremely quickly. And not in a good way. When I started with Sni we had a handful of dollar guys coming in. From what I've heard nobody made it to their 6-month anniversary.

You're required to get anything into some of those parking lots and hand unload it. Many of the dollar account lots are not built for that and if you have an accident in your first 6 months, you've now got a really bad black mark on your record.

I can't recommend Sni to you here. They aren't bad, but they don't allow passengers (unless you're teaming, in which case you'd carry the other driver only.) until you've gone past six months employment/experience.

If you've got no problem with that and don't mind either following, or attempting to shrug off, a bundle of rules and regulations... (I just can't stand people combing over my work with a magnifying glass.) Then I actually would recommend Sni. We've both a bulk (tanker) and flatbed division. Yeah, I work for them but I'm pretty much past the honeymoon stage with them, if you catch my drift.

Oh, and SNI's rider program is 9$ a month I believe. They just lowered it from 10.60$.

I'm on sni's drivers Facebook page. Most of those guys are stuck and miserable as well. As for backing, ive done it every day for the last 9 years. I've made my Bread around Boston. Ever tow a full tractor trailer with a 330" w/b pete around Boston? Yup, had to do that a few times. Put a limo on the back of my wrecker into that tight garage? Yup, done that as well. Back my tanker into that tiny spot to have enough hose to get the oil? Every day. Like I said, I don't expect roses for my first company. However I want to make $. Sitting at receivers doors for hours or being stuck because I took a load to NOWHERE and there's no freight coming out of nowhere for days and the company won't dead head me until there's no other choice? That ain't for me either. I'd do bulk if I can bring my girl. That's a disqualifyer. If she can't roll, I don't ride. If I DON'T like any company, or if I disqualify them all, I can go apply for local trash company. $23-25 hr plus ot plus full benefits. Just because I can, doesn't mean I want to.

Chemical plants won't let riders through the gate; they will look inside the sleeper for riders and pets. No choice; if you refuse to let them search the truck, you aren't allowed entry...PERIOD.
Plenty of other type trucking companies where she can ride and have real nice, comfortable trucks where she can relax and study. Some have satellite TV, XM radio, refrigerator. Some you can run 48 states or regional.

Oh yeah. Okay, must've missed your experience somewhere... Yes, in your case stay far away from Sni. I wasn't really recommending them to you anyways just because of their passenger policy.

You'll find the biggest complaints are the governors, sleep apnea crap and how they are always looking over your shoulder like you're a two year old. Sni isn't great, but from what I have heard in comparison to some other starting companies they are okay.

Since I'm dedicated, I've never had a problem not moving. So much so that when I do have the rare long weekend I plan to go somewhere or do something on my own. Sni's otr accounts are full of newbies and other drivers to where you do run the risk of sitting still. Dedicated always seems to be hurting/hunting for good drivers though.

I myself am looking to move on from Sni in the next year or less.

I've spoken with an o/o from U.S. Express, and while their company drivers don't impress me much, he seemed happy with the company.

Can't speak for any of the other companies, listed. Roehl seems to have good drivers, from what I've seen on the road; but I've never spoken with any of them.

Best of luck to you, but of steer clear of megas if you can afford to do so.

Also, what about food grade tanker? Are they the same way about not letting passengers in?

P.s. Chinatown, doesn't Navajo have a bad reputation among drivers?
