I know you're not. I was just pointing out what I read daily. Sni's recruiter up here couldn't or didn't know the answers to some basic questions I had. If the recruiter can't even answer basic questions, what would make me feel they would be a good fit? I don't want to run otr. I want to be at most two driving days away from my home in the event of a family emergency. I can't see being in say Washington state and having an emergency at home in massachusetts. I couldn't imagine not only the logistical nightmate it would be for my company, I can't see being 5 driving days away.

Well.. about the training... here is my experience with training both as a new driver.. and later as a trainer..

I had 4 trainers.. the first, a gruffy old school O/O running flatbed... that was my first trucking job.. then I had to take some time off for a family illness.. when I was ready to return I needed to go through a refresher course.. however, found a small reefer outfit that took me on and put me with one of their drivers for training.. however he was a complete mental case and had a few meltdowns.. so I stayed just long enough toget on with werner.. which was 3 months and 3 days...
went to werner where the wanted me to do 150 training hours... my first trainer, a female was worthless.. as well as very annoying.. she sucked at backing herself and was even worse at teaching how to... she tried to bait me into breaking
A few policies.. but, I only had a do a 150 hours so I was keeping my nose clean.. so, she had nothing on me.. which is a common trick that bad trainers do... they let you break the rules... like drinking on downtime and resets.. so you wont be
truthful and upfront with safety about how bad they are for fear they will turn you in..

but, I kept clean and within policies so I had to problem telling safety she sucked... which I did and got put with another trainer.. a male... he was a good trainer.. he was great a backing and teaching me how to... he was professional in his driving and as a trainer...

so.. werner has some good trainers... but, they also have ones who suck...

As for my experience as a trainer.. well, first the obvious.. there are good students who it is not hard to train and share your space with and there are bad students and who it is very taxing sharing your space with...

The training program is what it is.. the first phase, about two weeks, the trainer .. if training right will run their full shift withthe student in the jump seat for the last half, they switch and the trainer is in the jump seat and the student drives for a couple hours.. usually 2 to 4 depending on how they are doing, road and traffic and such.. then, you shut down for the night as you are basicly doing solo runs...
Then phase two is pretty much the same, only the student is driving more like 4 to 6 hours with the trainer in the jump seat for the first few miles then goes in the bunk to let the student get some time by themselves... which, often they do better... sometimes they will miss or strugle with down shifts when I am in the jump seat.. but when I am in the bunk reading and they dont know I am still awake and paying attention.. they shift better...

the last phase of training is running more lime teams... but, with the student able to wake up the trai er whenever needed..

What I did, was bought a wireless doorbell.. and put the button right on the dash easy to press whenever they needed.. or if I asked them to wake me at a certain point..
because... if we never went through the mountains in phase one or two and now are running teams and going through the mountains... i want to be awake and in the jump seat...

however.. not all trainers are equal.. Unfortunately many do not actually have enough experience themselves and are training because they were not making enough money on their own.... the thing is... there really isnt that much more money in training for a good driver... because training slows you down.. so it really is a wash.. but, for a below average driver there is money in training cause they are getting more miles training then they did on their own...

but, to be honest.. altnougn I did learn from my two good trainers.. I learned the most on my own... and no training covers everything.. i never had a blow out during training.. but did 3 months after when I was solo...

What are Werner's trucks governed to? 65mph?

...two days away is still kinda far. A good bit can go wrong. 650 miles a day, roughly, and that'd easily make you halfway across the country, literally. Nothing wrong with being two days away, but just making a point.

Also... To be perfectly honest, SNI's recruiters aren't so much full of crap like others. ...but they sure as hell don't know what they are talking about. Mine told me a completely different set of pay scale instructions, it ended up working out in my favor so I ended up getting paid more. ...but all the same, for people that are supposed to represent the company, they don't know much. Most of what I asked had specifically to do with what I couldn't find on google.

I learned, though I forget from where, to ask for documentation and papers on the information I need. Not at all for verbal confirmation. It's not impossible, but difficult to get it wrong when you're looking at the papers. ;)

If you were interested in sni and I thought they'd be a good fit to you, then I could probably forward the papers to you. I still have them somewhere in my inbox in a saved folder.

Glad you said that... I forgot that the recruiters for sni were completely ignorant of what actually goes on in the company.

Sure thing. They are only hiring otr where I am. And that's not what I'm looking for at the moment

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

Oh, I would be running in the northeast. It is not neccecarily about how many miles away, as it is driving hours. One night I left boston at 6 pm for Jamaica Queens. I didn't get back till 10 am. Evening rush hr traffic, overnight construction, and morning rush hour traffic.16 hrs for a 11 hr trip. The northeast is a pita, but its good money if you can deal
