Well went and got my physical and pee test today . Also did a road test and backing test . Did real good on the road test just ground the gears once when I was down shifting . Start orientation tomorrow for two days then will be on the road with my trainer . Now this is how they do their training . 5 weeks with a trainer by the 3 week I should be driving 90% of the time . Trainers are not aloud to sleep while I'm at the wheel . The head of training told me that is a no no and if my trainer told me it is ok to report it . Dave told me that they are getting paid extra to train me not to sleep . After 2 half weeks will come back in take a another road and backing test to see where I'm at . Then go back out to finish up . Then after those 2 and half weeks come back in and take a another road and backing test . If I pass them will be put as a 2 seat driver for 30 days . This is when I will start making cmp . After those 30 days take another road and backing test . Pass that and will be a first seat driver . Does this sound like a good training program or do you think they are over doing it ?
Ok starting with lct

The way I look at it the more the better as long as it's good training. It sounds like there will be more than one person evaluating your skills. That in itself is a good deal. Just remember the better trained you are the more you'll be relaxed when you show up at a drop. Sometimes a driver can get consumed thinking about what will happen when you have to back up to the dock. One thing about this job is you'll get alot of window time and what I mean by that is you'll have alot of time to think. And most of the time you'll be thinking the worse.
I can't say if your training is good or bad because it all depends on the trainer. All you can do is relax, ask questions, and learn. Try to keep the stories to a minimum and learn all you can. I never stopped learning because there's just so many things to know. I suggest you keep a small note book on tips and policy. Write down everything when you're in the box and try to organize your notes so you can look at them 20 years from now. I missed a few things and I kept searching for that truck stop that had the best fish and chips I've ever had! Never did find it. -
I'm still learning. Everyday. -
You can never overdo training, I would make doubly sure of the cmp with LCT because I have talked to drivers who complain they don't make much money.

lct is our sister company that does refridgeration and i say run away while you still can. you will be more broke in a month than you are now. if you stay i hope you like running up and down ninety five doing all the toll roads that they do not pay for. there is absolutly no way to run legal with them if you want to make a few dollars and i mean a few dollars. i know this because i have talked to a few of there drivers who are looking to leave. and i was told by drivers there to stay away from the outside table at there facility because everybody there just complains about everything. there are better reefer companies out there and i suggest you find one where at least you can make a decent living.
Kilroy Thanks this. -
