I wonder if it will work that way when I get a new truck.
Right now I can idle at any temp.

And right now, when my batteries need replacing, I sometimes need to idle between those temps.
If I have to run the bunk heater overnight the batteries will be too low to start the truck in the morning.
But Swift is putting it off. The last time I had to get a jump I was at a TA. They told Swift that I needed the batteries replaced, and Swift said no. I could go to a terminal.

I'll be at Laredo in a couple days. Let's see if they replace any of them this time. They didn't 2 weeks ago.

Western Express has a terminal in PA and also has Northeast regional.

Hey Chinatown. Since Western have only 3 terminals. What do you do if you have a mechanical issue if you're a ways away?

They put you in a shop somewhere; doesn't have to be their shop.

I am still on tract to start with Western Express. Will let you all know how it goes.

From what I have read the past months..Swift, Werner and Western pay all about the same. Correct?

I hear Schneider is slightly better when it comes to paychecks. I intend to do just 6 months - 1 year. So it's not really a big deal. Long as I am earning at least 500 weekly after taxes. That suits me fine.

Well I agree their is not a bunch of differences between the three mega's you listed. The big difference is Western Express has a lot worse reputation with the DOT. That is a lot worse by a large margin. That should be reason enough to consider your other options.

I don't think Western Express has those driver facing cameras. If that's true, it would be an easy choice for me personally.

The only problem with this and the T700 is that the TV/box takes up the 2nd biggest cabinet opening in the truck. I could pile a lot of useless crap in there. :/

Easy choice to go with Western you mean? Yeah I've heard about their reputation with DOT but a Western driver on youtube said it's not a big deal. You go through the scale/DOT and then on your way. They mostly are looking for owner/ops with the really old trucks. Caught a couple Western Express trucks around the NW the other week. They all looked in pretty good shape. Compared to a SNI truck that was filthy and looked outdated.

As far as Swift goes, my understanding is that they deduct $75 a week from your paycheck for 1 year, that's $300 a month. While they are deducting $75 a week, they also credit you $37.50 a week, that's $150 a month. So after 1 year, you have paid back all tuition costs, and they have credited you back 1/2 of what you paid. If you stay for the second year, they continue crediting you back $37.50 a week, so after 2 years, they have paid you back your full tuition, and it will have been free for you. That is, if you stay for 2 years. If you leave before your 1 year, then you owe them the balance of your tuition. Hope that helps, Like others have said, its best tostay at least a year no matter who you decide to work for.
