Typical Swift weasel words that make it unclear what is going on. For 13 months they deduct $75 bucks a weak from the pittance they pay you to go to CDL school. So in 56 weeks employed at Swift you pay $4200 dollars for their "school." After the 13 month they claim to pay you back the $75 a week until the 26th month of your employment..
The catch is of course few make it employed by Swift long enough to recoup any money from Swift: 100% turnover. Few make it past 8 months and are left with a bill from the balance. Just another way Swift makes money. -
Is it mostly because that trucking is a lifestyle that so many leave? or from hitting things?

There is a guy on youtube who runs flatbed. Young Texas Trucker. Check him out. As for the pay it varies between 500 a check to the amount you're talking about. It just depends really. Never turn down a load and you will start getting more. Depends on the miles and time of year.

I have a friend who started as a driver and worked five years at Schneider. He was very happy and would go back I worked at Western and can say if you get the right DM and are in the flatbed division, you can both make money and be treated right. But if not, well, there are stories about Western and many of them are are mostly true.
