Are you serious??? Did not ANYONE read the contract before they signed it??? .11 cpm??? NOT, it's .22, with .10 cents per diem/non taxed. Misunderstanding. Come on people I worked for CRST for 2 years, just served my last day last week. Quit for local job home everynight, weekends off, hourly pay. I DID read the contract, paid my dues, and it has now paid off. OTR trucking is not a vacation. It is not easy at first, but the person who stated, it will be rough starting off, is correct. You are a unexperienced driver, that ANY company will take advantage of that status. After the 1st training month, you get a raise to .26 pm. after 6 months, up to .33pm. It gets better, grin and bear it, for a few months, get off the forums that bash companies that had a bad experience. See for yourself, and move on. I was in the red for 3 months when I began at CRST. Not a positive paycheck for 3 months. CRST owned me. Stay away from advances/draws, they are like jail/the system, once your in, you never get out.
Granted, CRST is by far, the best company, but, compare other companies, don't take recruiters words, they lie!! They are salespeople (get it in writing), read the fine print (all of it), they dont force you to sign, but once you do, fullfill the contract or be prepared to pay, or have a blemished credit report and DAC report. The bad does not last forever, it get's better, if it doesn't, then move somewhere it does. You will find bad in everything if your let it. Find the positive!!!! Good luck!!!
ok the real scoop i need to know

I don't have a problem signing up with a company and earning the work. You have to start somewhere. Do I know this. What I do have a problem with is the slave labor mentality. Why do you have to go into debt just to get a job Come on, right off the bat you're $6,000.00 in debt. So, you go into debt to pay back the debt? Then you start making money. Hmm... No thanks. Everyone of us here has responsibilties. Rent, bills, food, etc. How can you support a family by not bringing home any money? This doesn't make any sense. Rent doesn't cost $50.00 a month. Food doesn't cost $50.00 a month. Come on, the company wants you in debt cause they benefit not you. So a company should charge you to work for them? This doesn't sit well with me. At my present job, I got training. Guess what, I didn't have to pay for it. I even got a background check. Didn't cost me a dime either. This is bogus. OTR's know peopl are in need of a job. They take advantage of them? I can't blame them for this. But in my book I would never let myself be taken advantage of like this. So what I can work OTR. I can work locally and probably make the same amount of money plus be home with the family on weekends and weekdays. I don't really want to be on the road like that to be miserable miles away from my family. That's terrible.

`1 - I had my CDL and a few months experience under my belt but they forced me to go to THEIR SCHOOL so I was endebted to them as if I'd been a brand new guy.
2 - My paycheck always had mistakes in it, wrong hours, wrong miles, wrong anything. It would be straightened out after three or four more paychecks and then it would start all over again. I moved on. Covenant was better if you worked teams, but teams is like rolling dice. You drive your shift and worry when the other beginner is driving. I was broke when I asked to go solo. I sat and sat. Take a few thousand with you if you go with any of the top 5 worst companies to work for. You'll get sick of drinking water to fill up with that tasty corn dog from Walmart. -
I was only supposed to go to their refresher. Then, just a few days before, I was told things had changed. I would have to go to their school and be a contract student.
