When I ran dumps, one of the first things I learned was to leave the doors locked at all times. The hands and the foremen had to climb up to the window and I would then roll the window down to talk or have them sign the BL. My rig is my home and if someone doesn't belong there, they're not getting in, period.![]()

The reason that i decided to post this is because i AM a new driver, not yet a TRUCKER, altho i am working on that title, yes i drive a truck, yes my job title is a truck driver, but im still new, new to EVERYTHING, and when i was in school they had said it just a few times about the whole G.O.A.L!!!, i thought it sounded crazy to stop my truck, get out and look, get in move back 1 foot, get out and look, it just seemed soo stupid, but let me tell all you NEW drivers, like myself, im posting here, in the section called " questions for new drivers " so you can read about this, and understand how important it is to
G.etut A.nd L.ook, weather in a truck stop, shipper, or a reciever. it will help you keep your job, and not have to pay someone for damages,
you vet drivers that are reading this understand what i am saying, you have seen it, OR you have done it yourself.
again, im a giver, i take in information, and i enjoy passing it on to people who are newer then i am.
i look up to the drivers that take the time pass information down to myself and others, weather new or old timers.cpassey Thanks this. -
.
IMHO no one "knows" everything no matter how long they have been in the game. Every day If you you have an open mind, you'll learn something new.cpassey Thanks this. -
Hey ron, yes, thats very true, i thought i learned almost everything there was to learn about trucking when i did 6 months of school. i have an advantage, and that is 6 MONTHS OF SCHOOL!!!. geez it was such a long time!, however, i learn more then the 4-weekers--FACT. and NO i heav learned nothing about trucking, just the very very very very basics!! haha. i learn everyday im on the rd driving, parking, docking, eating, fueling, talking, seeing, listening, feeling, etc. the list goes on, and like you said, you ALWAYS learn.
i think schools should express the fact that getting out and looking is key. -
