Taking a refresher course in Jackson, MS and one of the posters they have up is for drivethistruck.net. anyone ever heard of this? It says you can stay with them for 4 years and own a truck without ever paying a dime, there has got to be a catch somewhere. And what exactly is this place? They have orientation and you can stay with them and team if you choose, but they don't sound like your typical company. I know one it says was a driver is eligible to be a trainer after 90 days, that Adobe makes me wanna run the other way, but I just wanna know what y'all know about this place?

They are a private contract company that runs freight using their own trucks through Prime Inc.

I haven't heard of anyone going through this company but it could be a good deal as you will own your truck at the end of your contract as opposed to going lease with Prime where you give the truck back at the end.

Essentially after the 4 years you could take your truck and experience you gained and lease on with a different company and be in business for yourself. Doesn't sound bad as most drivers here with lease experience recommend you get a few years under your belt before going that route anyways.

I checked their site briefly... they seem to want teams.. and if you are solo they seem to want you to become a trainer or find a team mate...

Their pay was laid ojt by what you would make per mile based on fuel milage... which I dont think is bad.. I lime to stive for good mpg...

I do lime the idea of owning the truck at the end of 4 years...

I see a lot of Prime Drivers out there, on the road rolling.. not just at truck stops.. so if they can keep yoh rolling may not be a bad deal...

But, I am just going off what I gleamed from briefly looking at their website... have no experience with them and havent talked to a driver or two that has..

It's a legitimate offer. The owner leases his trucks onto Prime, and you haul their freight using Prime's dispatch system.

So essentially your truck would be their truck set at lease governor settings and all the loads would come through as you get them if you were a lease driver through Prime only you will be a company driver for them until your 4 years are up the you own and then can you contract on your own with Prime as an O/O? Seems like a better deal than lease.

You can take advantage of it after your one-year stint as a company driver to pay back your tuition. I neither endorse or recommend this as a course of action... it's up to you. IMO, if managed properly, you can make more in a lease truck. Consider during those 4-years you have no control over the maintenance of that truck, however in a lease truck, many of those decisions are made by you.
