Sometimes we Mississippians get to crowd around and chant, "We're Number 49, hey, we're Number 49, hey....."

Truth is, it's a great state that has faced some pretty nasty situations (hurricanes, desegregation, poverty, etc., etc.), but has rebounded to become a model, in my opinion, of how to persevere with minimal resources.

 

I concur. Our daughter was in Gulf Port at Keesler just prior to Katrina. We visited and I remembered Camille in 1969. Few months later she hit. MS turned to and shone proud. Nuff said.

 

Oops! The U.S Navy was a pretty uncertain experience. Kinda like trucking, though, if you just up and quit, your record gets smudged!
