Okay I have decided to go ahead and put my OTR time in.
My question is, what are some good companies to look in to?
I would like to start off with mostly no touch freight and be able to make the most money I can starting out.
Im in oklahoma and relocating is part of my plan anyway but I dont really have the means to pull that off right now.
I want to save up enough money to relocate and get on with a better company after a year but I dont want to get with a company that will burn me out right off the bat.
I know its tough to be a trucker but I have heard some really bad things about some companies in all of my research.
Oklahoma OTR advice, where do i start?

Here's a cut & paste from one of your other posts w/a couple of changes:
Decker Truck Line
Melton Truck Lines
Tyson Foods
TMC
Indian River Transport
Schneider Bulk
Foodliner
Navajo Express
Companies that have online applications, submit those so they have something to look at.
You can find negative comments about every company in America; doesn't mean they're all true.mbuck87 Thanks this. -
Whew, chinatown you are always right there lol
Thank you.
I read the list on the other post and I was going to post this as a reply but I am fairly new to forums and I wasnt sure if anyone would even see it.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Not a clue honestly.
It really depends on my family since I will be in my truck most of the time for the first few years anyway. They have to live wherever we go lol.
I would like to move to a place with higher trucking wages and low-ish cost of living but thats just my opinion and its purely financial at this point. -
There's some good states with no personal income taxes and cheap housing.
Texas and Nevada are good.mbuck87 Thanks this. -
Don't really need to re-locate. You are a trucker, all otr companies have customers everywhere and only a limited number of terminals. Look into Con-way, headquarters 8 miles from Oklahoma if you need to be close to the office.

Trucking wages are pretty much the same nationwide, unless you get into local hourly pay. Then usually the higher hourly pay jobs are in higher cost of living areas, though there are exceptions to this. Some OTR drivers, for example, drive for the same company and make approximately the same pay annually. One lives in New York City and pays $1500.00 rent for a small apartment and the other driver lives in Texas and pays $600.00 monthly rent for the same size apartment.
The driver in New York City is also paying state income taxes on top of high rent and the driver in Texas is NOT paying state income taxes and also paying much less rent and they both make the same money each year.NavigatorWife and mbuck87 Thank this. -
Im from dallas texas, ive tried to get my wife to agree moving back there but im pretty sure she never will.
I think we may stay in oklahoma for a while but maybe move closer to OKC.
Im not 100% sure at the moment, we have a lot going on.Chinatown Thanks this. -
